Pinus parviflora ‘Goldylocks’

A dwarf selection with an upright branching habit; grows about 10 cm per year; foliage is green with a unique variegation in which the needles are frosted with the intensity increasing toward the tips, which are white-yellow in the full sun without burning; originated as a seedling in Japan and introduced by William Schwartz, Media, Pennsylvania, U.S.A. about 1986. z5

As the amount of sun varies, so does the intensity of the yellow foliage. In half sun in the Pacific Northwest, the dense foliage is light green with bright yellow tips. In full sun the plant is bright yellow and can easily be grown as a cushion with some careful candling in the spring.
