Picea omorika 'Aurea'
A tree with the typical penulous branches of the species, it grows up to 30 cm per year. The foliage is bright gold, becoming blue and green on the undersides of the branches by Autumn. It originated at G. Bos & Sons Nursery, Boskoop, The Netherlands about 1979. Full sun exposure is most effective for producing the gold foliage, which becomes less obvious as the plant ages and one looks up into the foliage from beneath.
There are several mature plants in our garden.
