Tsuga mertensiana 'Elizabeth'

A spreading plant, it is about twice as broad as high and fairly dense. It grows about 6 cm per year and the foliage is grey-blue. The original plant was collected on Mt. Rainier, Washington, U.S.A. about 1940 by Elizabeth Frye and somehow made its way to Mr. James Caperci of the Rainier Mountain Nursery, Seattle, Washington. It is propagated from cuttings and in spite of its desirability is not an easy plant to find.
