abies koreana 'IceBreaker'
This exciting new selection originated as a witches' broom on Abies koreana 'Horstmann's Silberlocke'. It has the same recurved foliage but everything is reduced in size. Up to now, the growth habit appears to be that of a miniature, flat-topped cushion. The recurved foliage gives this cushion a silver-white color and produces an exceptionally nice plant that stands out in the landscape.
I am at least two years away from offering this plant to my customers. However, those of you who can't wait, can contact Dennis Dodge at Bethlehem Nursery in Connecticut. (http://www.bethlehemnursery.com/) I believe he will have a few available for shipment or pickup this year.
This is a picture of a plant at about 6 years old and grafted onto a low standard.
This is another plant at about the same age.
