Cephalotaxus harringtoniana 'Korean Gold'
Selected by Barry Yinger on a trip to Japan and Korea for Brookside Gardens in Maryland in the late 1970's or early 1980's, this plant is not an easy one to find.
It is very columnar and exceptionally bright gold where it is exposed to the sun. It is easily propagated from cuttings but takes a long time to develop any size.
The specimen in this picture is about 15 years old.
Juniperus conferta 'Sunsplash'
This plant was selected on the same trip. It is a yellow variegated selection of conferta juniper that attracts the attention of visitors to our garden. The variegation is bright and contrasts nicely with the bright green portions of the plant.
It grows prostrate, resists sun scald, and will cascade down a slope or over a wall.
