PICEA PUNGENS 'DONNA'S RAINBOW'
This exceptional selection of Picea pungens was made at Iseli Nursery in 1978 by an employee, whose first name was Donna. When she showed the plant to Jean Iseli, he had it set aside for further evaluation. Unfortunately Jean died before its evaluation was completed and to my knowledge it has never been mass produced.
This seedling selection is very densely branched with the needles held around the branches in a manner similar to that of Picea pungens 'Iseli Foxtail', as evidenced in the picture of the foliage.

This selection is conical with the branches strongly ascending. The bright blue foliage stands out in any garden and the growth rate is about 2-3 inches (5-8 cm) per year. The specimen in this picture is one of several in our gardens and is about 15 years old and approximately five feet (1.6 meters) tall.
