PICEA ABIES 'HILDBURGHAUSEN

Selected in Germany in 1990 by Gert Bohme, this cultivar develops into a perfect globe without any shaping.  It grows about 3 inches (8 cm) per year.

In the spring each branchlet produces five-six  shoots. All of these new shoots grow the same length, producing a symmetry that is reflected in the overall shape of the plant.

A perfect alternative to Thuja occidentalis 'Globosa', Picea abies 'Hildburghausen' has many uses in the landscape. It is a globose conifer that will not outgrow its location.
