Pinus resinosa 'Don Smith' is a wide-spreading
selection grown from a witches'-broom.This plant is over 20 years old.
Picea abies 'Gold Drift' is a plant under development.
Originating as a golden sport on 'Reflexa', it pushes golden new growth in the spring that
holds nicely through the summer, becoming gold frosted by winter. Watch for it to become
available about the year 2001.
Picea abies 'Witches' Brood' is a light green seedling
selection made by Linc Foster from a witches'-broom. It makes a dense, conical bush with
finer foliage toward the base.
Picea orientalis 'Silver Seedling' is a compact plant with
white foliage that burns in the full sun. In heavy shade the foliage is more green than
white.
Cedrus deodara 'Silver Mist' grows into a compact, dense
pyramidal bush with white foliage that does not burn in the full sun.
Picea abies 'Pusch' was discovered as a witches'-broom on
'Acrocona. It is a miniature 'Acrocona' in every respect right down to the small cones on
the branch tips.
Taxodium distichum 'Secrest' was discovered at
the Secrest Arboretum in Ohio. It will be much hardier than the species. It is dwarf and
spreading with light green, curled foliage growing throughout the summer.
Pinus sylvestris 'Barrie Bergman' came
to my collection from Fred Bergman of Raraflora noteriety. It is green with copius amounts
of pure white variegation scattered throughout the foliage. The white lasts a good two
months before burning off- an attention grabber well into summer.
Libocedrus decurrens 'Aureovariegata' is a green incense
cedar with golden splashes throughout the foliage. It develops into a tall, narrowly
conical specimen, making it perfect for unique hedging.
Cupressus sempervirens 'Nitschke's Needle' is a tall,
dense, narrow spire. It has dark green foliage and develops attractive cones during the
summer.
Juniperus communis 'Gold Cone' develops
into a nice, dense little cone, eventually growing to about eight feet. Its foliage
develops a nice hue of gold during the summer and holds the color into the winter.
